since that A has broken up with R but they still talk and A still complains to me about R and how immature and irresponsible with money R is, even though to "make up for" spending their savings R is paying for A's cat's $500-$600 surgery. now that R and A are no longer together the plan was that A and i would live together. until A met her new "bf" W. the reason i put quotations is that W lives in florida with his girlfriend K. however apparently K is racist and he doesn't love her, but he'd be homeless if he leaves her, so he and A are conducting a secret relationship and they pretend to be just friends in front of anyone who knows him and he routinely blocks her everywhere when K and him fight. to me, cheating is cheating but i've never voiced this to her. their justifications are good but imo, cheating is just something you don't do. besides that, if he'll cheat with her, why not on her? because she's crazy about W, A basically abandoned our plan to move in together and is now moving 2hrs away to be with him, although she's never mentioned exactly when this is happening.
I've applied to over 20 contact tracing positions and haven't heard anything, even over the holidays when the country was spiking again. Finally had an interview the other day, and the hiring manager was excited to say they're aiming to double their contact tracing team by May - a little late for that over a year into the pandemic... I understand this probably is a reflection of federal funding under a new president, but we're already dishing out unemployment checks, so why not reallocate those funds to hire unemployed people to do the work that's needed? why wait around? Also, I did the math - I'd earn more on unemployment than I would as a contact tracer, and that's messed up. I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can take the job and earn less, with the hope that it will be more beneficial in the long run than a blank spot on my resume. As far as I can tell, neither of these positions (call center representative and contact tracer) would require serious qualifications - most contact tracing positions don't even require a college degree.
